Autobiography of Wilbur R. Thatcher (My Dad) Installment 10 of 10

This is the final installment (10 of 10) of my Dad's autobiography about growing up in Wayne County Iowa.

We farmed at Seymour one year & moved to our farm at Corydon. Got a GI loan to buy it from Carl. He always told everyone he gave it to us but he got more money out of the farm than he had given for it.

The rest of our lives you pretty well know first-hand.

We survived on the farm by renting other farm land & doing custom farming. I worked a number of outside jobs including funeral home, township assessor, school bus driver & finally got into the Post Office. In 1963 Carl & I & Mary started Thatcher Impl. In 1972 I had retired from the P. O. we formed a corporation & bought Carl out. We built the new bldg. & survived until 1980 when interest rates went to 25%. June 30 -1985 we closed the business.
